PVSS00opc - IMPL/SEVERE - OPCServer, initialize, CoCreateInstanceEx: could not connect to OPC-server at hostname

Enclosed you'll find the explanation for a log-message which can occur during runtime or when starting the OPC-client. The log-message is written to the PVSS_II.log-file.

PVSS00opc (3), 2011.11.14 14:09:24.678, IMPL, SEVERE, 54, Unexpected state, OPCServer, initialize, CoCreateInstanceEx: could not connect to OPCServer.WinCC at 10.119.105.71

Log-message with symbolic names:

PVSS00opc (3), <TIMESTAMP>, IMPL, SEVERE, 54, Unexpected state, OPCServer, initialize, CoCreateInstanceEx: could not connect to <OPC-server> at <hostname>

This log-messages describes that the PVSS-/WinCC OA-OPC-client could not establish the connection the OPC-server (keyword <OPC-server>) running at the computer given at the keyword <hostname>.
Please check if the OPC-server at the remote computer is running and if a connection via the network is possible.
If the OPC-server and OPC-client are not running at the same computer DCOM is used for the connection. In that case also the DCOM-settings have to be configured to enable the connection. Please check the DCOM-settings at the remote computer using the program dcomcnfg.
An explanation for the DCOM-settings can be found at the PVSS/WinCC OA-online help.

To check if the problem only occurs when using the PVSS-/WinCC OA-OPC-client you could install another OPC-client at the same computer where PVSS/WinCC OA is installed. Afterwards please check if a connection is possible with this OPC-client.
If the connection is also not possible the problem might not be caused by the PVSS-/WinCC OA-OPC-client.
