What is the definition of an I/O according to WinCC OA licensing?

In WinCC OA the required license depends, among others, on the amount of the used I/Os (input/outputs).

An I/O is a datapoint element (DPE), which is changed by a driver (e.g. is connected to an S7-adress of a S7 PLC) or is exchanged with any other WinCC OA server (distributed systems) or with any other Software-system that has an interface to connect to a WinCC OA server.

Internal datapointelements (DPEs that don't communicate to "outside") don't belong to this definition and won't be counted.
