Remote Backend Out-of-Proc

For this scenario the NGA Standard package or NGA Premium package is required since this scenario requires one backend connection. In this scenario the backend process runs on an external machine, e.g. on the same machine as the database.

Note: The communication between the Next Gen Archiver Manager and the backend should use encryption - see chapter Using a Remote Backend with Encryption.
Figure 1. Remote Backend
Note: In the standard NGA configuration, NGA is located on the SCADA server an not on a not remote server.

Remote scenarios with a remote server (see the scenario above) can be used for better performance. Meaning the backend can be separated and does not use the resources of the SCADA server.

Note that all required dependencies (backend executables and driver libraries) must be copied to the database server machine or WinCC OA must be installed.

Note also that the mechanism to run and monitor the state of the remote backend must be configured as a service.
