Terminal server, basics
The Windows terminal server makes it possible to use WinCC OA on remote terminals without installing WinCC OA components on these computers. Different than on remote UIs (which need at least some installed basis components of WinCC OA) the terminal server reduces installation and maintenance expenses.
In order to use the terminal server WinCC OA only has to be installed on the computer the terminal server software is running on (e.g. Windows 2000 Server). The single terminals get only the display information of the UI that is running on the server (this also means that the server has to be capable of running the UIs).
The use of WinCC OA panels via terminal server client does not differ from the normal use of WinCC OA panels.
