So, you want to connect it to a factory? Easy.
Here are the top things you need to know about WinCC OA connectivity.
WinCC OA is friends with everybody in the sandbox and that's because there is a connector for everything.
This means easy connectivity to old systems, new systems, and most likely future systems.
Whether it's northbound connectors like MQTT, Rest, and OPC UA or southbound connectivity to any flavour of PLC device, old or new: We got you covered!
And next up: Databases
WinCC OA works with all major databases, including but not limited to Postgres (which is going to be embedded in the forthcoming release), InfluxDB® (which is already embedded), and everyone's favourite Microsoft SQL Server.
Lastly, connecting the business system:
You will not automate yourself into a corner with WinCC OA because the platform provides different types of business logic for preprocessing your data.
It includes the native control scripting, C++, C#, and forthcoming in the future release Node.js with TypeScript.
So, what can WinCC OA connectivity do for you?
It will give you the real time data that you need to make more informed decisions.
For example, monitor and control your equipment regardless of the PLC brand you have in place.
You can validate your equipment performance to OEM specifications and ensure you're getting what you paid for.
You can send data northbound based on when a production order is completed. Or if you have a major downtime occurrence., that information can be sent immediately to your business system so that you can make better decisions with your scheduling.
These are just a few examples of how you can put WinCC OA to work for your organization.
