Command objects
The "Command objects" tab is used to configure and test commands with the IEC61850 device.
Configured objects
Command / Controlled objects
The combo box allows to adjust which elements of the configured objects are displayed within the table. Viable filter options are:
- Command objects - Displays the command object of the configured object
- Controlled objects -Displays the controlled object of the configured object
- Command & Controlled objects - Display both Command and controlled objects
Object table
Command object
The data object used for the control action, e.g. CSWI4.
Controlled object
The object, controlled by the selected command object, e.g. XCBR1.
Test
Shows if the test flag is set for operations of this object.
State
Shows if the object can be operated. If not, a warning is displayed ().
Buttons

Command Configuration Dialog
The dialog allows to add or modify an object from the object table.
IED
The IED preselected within the basic device configuration of the IEC 61850 engineering.
Command object
The command object can be selected from within the "IEC 61850/61400 address tree" panel by pressing the "..." button.
Controlled object
As with the command object the controlled object can also be selected from within the "IEC 61850/61400 address tree" panel by pressing the "..." button. The available entries within the address tree of controlled objects are already filtered and only display the available elements for the previously selected command object.
Please note that selecting the Command/Controlled object can only be done when adding a new entry to the configured objects table. Command/Controlled objects cannot be updated afterwards. To change these settings a new object must be configured.
RCB
Allows to select a Report control block that should be used. Using the "..." button the "RCB selection" dialog is opened. Within the dialog the RCB used for the controlled object can be selected.
Check
Defines the check conditions. Possible values are:
- No check
- Synchro check
- Interlocking check
- Both
Test
Defines if the sending of the command should be tested.
Selected object details
Command object
The object selected in the table of configured objects (above).
Control model
The control model which shall be used. It is automatically set after selecting the command and the controlled object according to the settings read from the data source used for configuration.
The current Configuration data source can be seen in the top right corner of the Engineering panel.
Following control model types are available:
- Status-only
- Direct operation with normal security
- Select before operate with normal security
- Direct operate with enhanced security
- Select before operate with enhanced security
The combo box also allows to change the control model online if changing the control model is allowed for the selected command object.
Controlled object
The object, controlled by the selected command object
Report control block
The report control block configured for the selected object.
Send command
The area allows to send a command for the selected object.
Current value
The current value of the monitored data attribute of the controlled object.
New value
The control value to be sent. The "Set value" button opens a new dialog in which the command must be verified, see Operate Panel description below.
Operate
Depending on the data type of the monitored data attribute of the controlled object the button displays either Set (data type BOOL) or Operate (other data types like INT, FLOAT). Click this button to open the Operate panel.
Warning Symbol
If the selected object cannot be operated a warning symbol () is shown.
Possible issues are, that no RCB has been configured or the RCB is not enabled. To see what causes the issue you can position your cursor on top of the icon and get a state summary for the configured object, indicating what additional configuration is required.
Response
Shows the response to a sent command. The response might be either an error code or a confirmation in case of success. Possible responses are listed in tables "IEC 61850 control model error codes" and "IEC 61850 control model response codes" on Details of IEC 61850 control model
Add cause
Provides additional information if one of the enhanced modes (DOe or SBOe) is used. Possible values are listed in table "AddCause values" on Details of IEC 61850 control model.
Operate Panel
This panel is used to confirm, i.e. send the command. It shows the command to be sent (new value, check and test conditions, none of these changeable here), provides the buttons for operations and shows the response after sending the command.
Command to be sent
Value
The value entered as "New value" in the "Send command" area of the "Command object" tab.
Check
Shows the check condition of the command to be sent. The setting is part of the command object configuration.
Test
Shows the state of the test flag of the command to be sent. The setting is part of the command object configuration.
Operate
The buttons in this area are enabled according to the configured control model:
- Select - enabled in case SBO and SBOe. Click the button for selecting the object.
- Cancel - enabled after the object has successfully been selected. Click the button for cancelling the operation.
- Confirm - enabled in case of DO, DOe or after the object has successfully been selected. Click the button to send the command.
