Translator, basics
The translator helps you to save time when creating and maintaining multilingual projects. The translation panel is integrated in the version and can be opened in GEDI ( menu tab "Tools" > Translator). Its clear structure guarantees the easy use for beginners as well as for advanced users. You can easily translate your panels, catalogs and data point descriptions into the desired languages and create a multilingual project.
The translator offers you benefits, for example, when creating a new project. You can create a project in German or any other desired language and configure it. With the aid of the translator, you then translate the created panels, catalogs and data point descriptions of your whole project quickly and easily into English or any other desired language.
The translator also allows the "translation" of fonts. This feature is very useful, for example, if you want to translate English panels into Chinese and need Chinese characters. The font is automatically "translated" and you do not have to change the font of every single text in your project separately.
The main functions of the translator are:
-
Export: Exports the defined texts from panels, catalogs and data point descriptions.
-
Dictionary functions: Allows the translation of the exported texts.
-
Import: Updates the panels, catalogs and data point descriptions with the translations of the dictionary file.
-
Quick translate: Translates a single panel or catalog.
This help contains a detailed description of the translation panel as well as practical examples of use. It should help you to familiarize yourself with the translator and facilitate the use of the translation panel.
