Uninstall

A complete uninstallation of WinCC OA versions is possible. While uninstalling an uninstall log will be generated.

Uninstall a WinCC OA version by using the:

  • Uninstallation through the Windows Control Panel("Add or Remove Programs").

Note that you should not uninstall WinCC OA manually by deleting the installation directory.

With the option Uninstall or Change, you open the WinCC OA dialouge. Select the Uninstall option there to uninstall the selected version and start the uninstall by clicking next.

Make certain that only the following files become uninstalled:

  • Empty folders that have not existed before the installation.

  • Registry entries, not existing before the installation

  • Entries in the start menu, not existing before the installation

If there are two or more WinCC OA versions installed on the computer the entries in the start menu will not be removed.

  • Files, not existing before the installation, except the directories log/, bin/, config/, install/ in the WinCC OA installation: these files are always explicitly deleted.

  • The entire directory tree for the WinCC OA installation up to the first not empty directory.

After uninstalling WinCC OA, the following directories and entries remain:

  • Registry and directories of WinCC OA projects: These have to be uninstalled from the console before uninstalling WinCC OA (also the Demo project).

  • Registry-Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ETM/PVSS II/<version>

  • "shared" DLLs, if they have been installed by other applications (see HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/SharedDLLs)

  • Additional program components are not uninstalled with the uninstallation of WinCC OA and have to be uninstalled separately from the Control panel.

  • If files were edited or added manually they are not removed during the uninstall! These files must be removed manually!

  • The pvssInst.conf file will not be removed!

Uninstallation of Patches

Installed patches can be only uninstalled with the uninstallation of the complete WinCC OA version. A uninstallation of selected patches is not possible. Uninstalling a WinCC OA version uninstalls also all patches of this WinCC OA version automatically.
