Remote UI project: Project with a remote user interface. The remote project is connected to a project on a
server. The remote project is created and started on the "client". On the client a directory structure and config file are
automatically created (copied from the server). In case of a configuration UI only config and log files are created and in case of
a visualization UI all parts except the database). Note that changes in the config file are not copied to the server
automatically. In order to access the panels on the server the project path has to be shared. The server project can be selected
in the "New project" panel (see figure below). Note that a project that is not executable cannot be selected. In the project
administration panel of the client you can see if the server project is running. For more information see Remote UI.
CAUTION: For remote projects, the WinCC OA version used on server and client must be
the same.
Note: If the configuration module (PARA) should be used in a remote UI project, perform the full
installation of WinCC OA on the client.
Note: Note that when you create a remote UI project and the server project contains sub projects, a message
is shown and the sub projects are commented out. You have to edit the config file manually after creating the project.
Note: Only applicable under Windows: When creating a project using the new project wizard, it is not
possible to use a network path containing a drive letter (e.g. “U:”) when selecting the server project on the server. In this
case you get a message and the local computer is used as the server host. Use a UNC path in order to select a different
computer.
Note: Note that when you select the configuration option for your remote project under general
settings, the start panel is not shown and the panel name is grayed out. Unlike the visualization option which allows
to display panels, the configuration option gives full PARA access to the project.
