        An archive group is a logical structure that stores data with specific storage settings.

        If the backend has not worked for a while, you can request the last values that are still available from the frontend.
      - Redundancy state

        A segment is a time-limited data record unit that contains all value changes or alert information of archived data point elements that are assigned to a specific archive group for a specific time period (i.e. between the start and end time of the segment).

Metadata

The metadata consists of archive groups and DPEs (data point elements) that are defined in the WinCC OA project.

The backend receives metadata that only belongs to the current backend. A corresponding backend is installed for the archive group, which processes the data for this group. An archive group contains a list of elements whose values must be saved in the database.
